Closing the Gap Malaysia

Closing The Gap exists to help bright, underrepresented students enter quality universities by empowering them with the knowledge and skills to achieve their fullest potential. AccessEd partnered with Closing the Gap to help set up the first Scholars programme in Malaysia.

This programme exists to gain entry into local or global universities.

This programme recruits high-potential students in Form 5/Upper 6 from lower-income backgrounds to join a 2-3 year intensive programme. Through the programme, students, called Scholars, receive support and guidance to attain entry into local or global universities.

The programme consists of 4 components:
Regular workshops - that provide Scholars with the knowledge, resources and skills to set them up for success
Mentoring - each Scholar has a mentor who guides his/her university and scholarship planning for 2 years
Additional enrichment - external workshops, exposure trips and internships to supplement Scholars’ growth
Residential camp - 5-day immersive university learning, community-building experience and  university-level tutorials.
