ThinkUni: uni choice app

"ThinkUni" is a new university choice app that has been designed to help potential students learn more about undergraduate options across the UK.

It is designed with a simple structure, as follows...

Why this App is Important

To understand what student life is like at different universities, there are many factors to consider. For example: Would you prefer to attend a campus university or one in the city? Are academic facilities or social life more important to you? Which universities have great graduate prospects?

ThinkUni helps you to dig into these questions in more detail. It includes information on all universities in England, Scotland and Wales. It is designed to help you draw up a shortlist of potential universities that meet your priorities, which you can then research in more detail.

Using this App

There are two main ways to use the app...

  • ThinkUni Assistant: Answer 15 questions about your interests and get a shortlist of up to nine universities might be a good fit for you. It should take around 5-10 minutes to go through in full.

  • Use the Lookup feature: Choose a subject area and then select a university to see detailed information on that particular combination. It should take 1-2 minutes per search.

When you Should Use this App

You should use the ThinkUni app during the 'Explore' step. You might find the ThinkUni app interesting any time from Year 9 onwards, but it is primarily aimed at students in Year 12 and 13 who are in the process of selecting universities to apply for.

* The app has been supported by the DfE and a public beta version was launched in April 2019. It is based on publicly available data, such as Longitudinal Education Outcomes and UniStats data. Further development of the app is in the pipeline, including non-A Level courses.
