"I will really miss this club, it was like a family to me. I really learnt a lot and I hope that I will share my knowledge and my experience with other learners"

AccessEd ZA exists to increase the number of learners from under-represented backgrounds progressing to university. It does this by mobilising the research community to share its academic expertise with schools.

The programme launched in 2017 in partnership with Leap Schools, African School for Excellence and Ikamva Youth. Over two years, the pilot mobilised 20 researchers to reach 228 young people in township communities in Gauteng and the Western Cape.

We are now working with local partners and funders to develop a sustainable and scalable programme for young people across South Africa.
