Academic Seminar Programme

The Academic Seminar Programme (ASP) prepares high-achieving secondary school students for academic success at the world’s top universities.

Access to top universities is very competitive, and students are often required to demonstrate how they have gone above and beyond the school curriculum. The ASP allows students to do this, with short, challenging courses that are based on cutting-edge PhD research.

Each ASP course consists of a series of six seminars exclusively designed and delivered by academic supervisors based at UK universities. All academic supervisors are working towards a PhD, or will have completed one. Seminars are based on the academic supervisor’s own PhD research expertise. The programme is delivered to small groups, replicating teaching at a research-intensive university, with an extended final assignment, and personalised academic advice in a one-to-one feedback supervision.

The ASP offers a unique opportunity to develop deep subject knowledge through direct academic supervision from a PhD researcher. Seminars prepare students for advanced academic study through a range of teaching methods found in top universities, including small-group discussion and independent research. Moreover, ASP courses are based on a model that has been shown to have a significant impact on progression to highly-selective universities in the UK through an independent evaluation by UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (see below).
